Si le père a beaucoup d’enfants, ils reèoivent après avoir atteint la majoritê chacun une portion de terre; d’un autre côtê, à la mort de chacun des membres de la famille, la terre revient à la commune. Il arrive frêquemment que des vieillards très âgês rendent leur terre et acquièrent par là le droit de ne point payer d’impôts. Un paysan, qui quitte pour quelque temps sa commune, ne perd pas pour cela ses droits à la terre, ce n’est que par l’exil prononcê par la commune (ou le gouvernement) qu’on peut la lui retirer, et la commune ne peut prendre part à une pareille dêcision que par un vote unanime; elle n’a cependant recours à ce moyen que dans les cas extrêmes. Enfin, un paysan perd aussi ce droit dans le cas où, sur sa demande, il est affranchi de l’union communale. Il est alors autorisê seulement à prendre avec lui son bien mobilier, rarement lui permet-on de disposer de la maison ou de la transporter.
